Worm Trails

Branching patterns are great. Here, the little movers die upon hitting a path, and respawn at the location of another mover. With some tweaks, this system can make a lot of nice patterns. You can even play with it online here! The basic version is here:

That’s fun to watch evolve, but there are so many options available. How about enforcing bilateral symmetry, having the movers shrink over time, and ignore intersection? It leads to creepily biological forms.

How about more symmetry, and different colors?

How about more symmetry, random start positions, avoiding intersection, and using different colors?

Or colors that change over time, and they only branch off at 90 degrees?

Or what about making them move too quickly, so that they sometimes jump over one another?
